Councillor Catherine Gennard (Central Ward) worked hard with Green Party Hereford City councillor Jeremy Milln to see that proposed new electrical transformers at the Green Street entrance to Bartonsham Meadows were rejected by Herefordshire Council’s planning Committee.

Jeremy at the proposed site showing just how tall the transformers would be.
The units would have ruined the iconic setting at this key gateway to the Meadows which is loved and appreciated by everyone in the community.
Catherine and Jeremy say:
‘We are grateful for the support of local people who turned out in large numbers to attend the Site Meeting on 20th August. We recognise the need for electricity infrastructure but there was almost unanimous agreement this was the wrong site. We would encourage the Church Commissioners and National Grid to consult with us and the Wildlife Trust in future.’
